Laminating a double bass...no, but I could and I would not need a bag the size of a house. I am making a solid, carved bass, them's the best...

The bag is outside the mold and you can use a clamp or two to get the layup to conform to the shape of the mold and then pull the vacuum. If there are are four hands all you would need to do is press down at the waist area and hold the two ends to the form and then pull the vac and the whole thing will stay. Hard to describe the virtues until you have done a bunch both ways I guess.

I don't make many guitars but have made many many laminated sides and parts.

The aluminum doesn't do anything, in fact I quit using it.

Sorry I messed up the formatting of this entire thread by accidentally putting my photos next to each other.

I get it now. Thanks!

The whole point of vacuum pressing, to me, is to get away from clamps. So, I wasn't expecting to see that.

I'll stick with the big bags. Now that I know I can get it by the yard right here, for not a whole lot of money,  it's the way to go. Easy to make, also. I can make a canoe and fit it to a bag <bg> Sucks it right to the form, smooth as smooth gets... Space isn't an issue for me, either, but it surely is for others; extra hands are a issue(ain't got but two!).

Thanks for clarifying!
